The Murrells Inlet Community Theater (MICT), located at the Community Center on Murrells Inlet Road, is presenting “Black Tie” by A.R. Gurney from Thursday-Sunday, May 10-13 and 17-20, 2012. This generation-gap comedy takes place in the hours before a problematic wedding rehearsal dinner. The father of the groom is struggling to devise the perfect toast to celebrate his soon-to-be-married son. Cultures clash when a surprise guest is announced, threatening to throw convention out the window. The audience will find “Black Tie” a charming, funny and moving play.

There’s a baby in our family. She’s my sister’s daughter and she’s six months old. They wanted to get her swim lessons and even though I thought you had to walk before you could swim apparently I was wrong. The coolest thing about her taking swim lessons is that the baby wears these special infant swim diapers that prevent her from making any deposits into the swimming pool, if you get my drift.
The infant swim diapers that a company by the name of My Pool Pal carries takes the fear out of bringing a baby into the water with you. They’re designed to take the place of traditional diapers when you bring your baby into the water with you. They’re specifically made to help reduce deadly bacteria contamination in and around swimming areas. They will contain solids without adding weight and will not absorb or contain liquids.
My sister was pretty happy with the infant swim diapers. She said they won’t fall apart in the water like a Pamper would. Plus they’re constructed to fit comfortably under a bathing suite. My niece seemed to be quite comfortable in it. But what has to be the coolest feature of all is that these diapers are reusable. You throw them in the washing machine and hang them up to dry. In today’s world that’s what is known as being green.

My family is headed to Las Vegas, Nevada, next month to attend the wedding of my husband’s cousin. I’ve never been to Las Vegas in my life but I’ve heard a lot about Las Vegas weddings. Everything I’ve read and heard always made them sound so exciting. I’m just a little bit envious that her and her fiancé have opted to take this route to tie the knot.
I always thought Las Vegas weddings were for the rich and famous but she is neither rich nor famous. Here they are, going to get married in a helicopter of all places, and over the Grand Canyon at that! I have no idea where she found out about this but it’s just fabulous. The entire family is talking about it and for sure we are all going to show up with cameras flashing and video running.
Just between me and you, when we attend this wedding I’m hoping my husband thinks Las Vegas weddings are just the coolest thing and wants to do a renewal of vows in Vegas. That would be just so great. Not sure if we’d do the Grand Canyon or maybe go to Red Rock Park but one thing is for sure. He’s not getting me up in a helicopter for nothing. We’ll be taking the limo option to get to our destination.

Another place we want to check out while we’re in the South Carolina coastal area is this Garden City Beach resort. We won’t be far from it at all when we’re in North Myrtle Beach. It’s a part of the Grand Strand along the coast of South Carolina. Sixty miles of sandy beaches with sun and surf! Sounds like a vacation to me! I’m thinking we could spend half of our vacation in the NMB area and then the second half at this Garden City Beach resort.
There’s plenty to do in this entire area regardless of whether we play golf on the over 110 championship courses they have there. The kids would love the water parks and amusement centers, the miniature golf, and Ripley’s Museum too! I would enjoy tearing myself away while the rest of the family stays at our Garden City Beach resort so I can spend some girl-time just shopping. I hear there are tons of outlet malls and other specialty shops there.
Put on your knickers and putt yourself through the Murrells Inlet 2020 MarshWalk Masters on April 7, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. stopping at every restaurant along the way. Play the hole at each of the nine stops on the tour and the lowest score wins! First place prize for the best score is $500. Prizes will also be awarded for 2nd and 3rd places and for the best dressed golfer. Enjoy the beautiful Marshwalk views and enjoy drinks and appetizers while you play. I was online the other day looking at places to vacation to this summer. I decided my family would enjoy another trip to North Myrtle Beach this year. The last time we were there we had such a delightful time that it would be hard to improve on that. I looked at a bunch of North Myrtle Beach hotels online but only one stood out as good enough.
